Did you spot the edit there ?
Mark originally said that Sarah wrote to Jim'll Fix It asking to meet the Beatles .

Was Sarah Blackwood genuinely just going through the motions here or was that her natural performance style?

Almost a year after the album Picture This came out, the Wets release the 6th and final single from the album.
The first single Love Is All Around was the big hit spending 15 weeks at number 1.
We the had - Julia Says ( 3 ) / Don't Want To Forgive Me Now ( 7 ) / Somewhere Somehow ( 7 ) / She's All On My Mind ( 17 ) / Morning ( 16 ) .
Mark said they will be around for many years to come after signing a huge new record deal. That sounds like a threat.
Their next appearance will be in March 1997 with If I Never See You Again.

"They'll be making music for years to come."
What a terrible thing to say, Mark.

And we'd only just got the Wets' myriad performances in '94 and '95 out of our systems.
This is so middle of the road it's almost painful.

Looks like Marti's been to the barbers for the first time since 1989?

I did think it seemed a bit abrupt.

Anyone else getting the feeling parts of this Wets number sound like Mr Mister's Kyrie sung more slowly?

SONG OF THE NIGHT
It's not very often that the number 1 is Song of the Night ( in my opinion ) but Firestarter sounded fantastic in 1996 and still sounds fantastic today.
Firestarter samples 3 songs:
The vocal "hey hey" comes from Close To The Edit by the Art of Noise
The wah wah guitar loop comes from SOS by the Breeders
The repeated drum pattern comes from the Voice of Paradise Mix of Devotion by Ten City. The Prodigy never appeared in the Top of the Pops studio so we have the video for the 3 weeks at number 1.
Week 1 of 3 at number 1 on sales of around 119,000 last week.
The video was filmed at a disused London Underground tunnel at Aldwych.

Well now, here's a song and video that defines the time period it emerged in.

Wasn't this filmed in the jubilee line while under construction?
Was quite startling to hear for the first time but has probably lost its edge a bit over the years.

I did like this Prodigy song. Keith Flint was a charismatic frontman. Shame what happened to him.

Great Number 1, I remember the shock around Kieth Flint look at the time
Fantastic song
I just wish Kieth have found the help he needed back in 2019, he should still be with us, running teams in BSB and Isle of Man and performing his great back catalog

The Equals were the first major interracial rock group in the UK and were founded in 1964.
The guy second from the left with the guitar singing secondary vocals was Eddy Grant who wrote the song.
Baby Come Back was their 1st top 40 hit - number 19 at the time, the song will top the chart for 3 weeks in a months time.
Eddy will also top the charts as a solo artist in 1982 with I Don't Wanna Dance.
This footage is from the 6th June 1968 - the episode still exists in the BBC vaults but, you've guessed it, was co-presented by Jimmy Savile so no chance it will ever be screened in full.

The Equals with anachronistic track of the episode.
