Got a shop manual for a 95 so that I'd have one for a 1.6 (my old one) and a 1.8 motor. Got a package of the straw holders from K-Mart (hey, sometimes a ninety nine cent gift is one of the best). Got a real OPG sending unit and an IOU that the gauge itself is on the way from Rosenthal for my 95 supercharged car (my wife really knows Miatas and what makes me happy :D ). Oh, also got some underwear - shades of childhood :)

I must admit I was BAD! My wife began complaining that boxes were showing up at the door everyday & were NOT for her.

My first pre-Christmas gift - which would NOT fit in a box. I had to pick it up myself - ANOTHER Miata. '96 Black & Tan - 40K miles - DEFINITELY garage kept and babied. SHOWROOM condition. I went to see it with my Miata neighbor - MAL. Within seconds I told the owner I would buy it and agreed to full asking price (did NOT even think about negotiating). MAL told me later, after the drive back home (with the car), that if I refused to buy it - he would have. The car had PLENTY of extras - The owner showed me his log book of receipts - over $12K. The BIG TICKET item is a fly'n Miata turbo charger.
(I will post pics in the Spring - It is in the garage right now - I have not yet transfered Title - no license plates.

Because of this I bought:
Another car cover - soft flannel type to protect car while in garage.
2 pair of 95M edition scuff plates.
1 set of rear lenses (I want to practice removing the raised lettering)
A chrome (old style - not available any longer) removable luggage rack.

IN TRANSIT - a removable trailer hitch - to be used with either Miata.

ON ORDER - a 3.6 rear end - thought it would help with the performance.

That's it for this week - unless anybody out there has some good ideas. Santa has to start today planning for next year.

TO ALL - A SAFE and HAPPY HOLIDAY season.

i got money from the family- they don't know cars and can't fathom why i would tear apart a perfectly good car to worsen gas mileage (supercharger). the money was suppossed to be for a new top, but i will most likely spend it on suspension (konis and fm springs, bumpstops and maybe even nb mounts...). hey, when i drive it, the top is down anyway, unless its raining...

I want one a lift so bad, but first I need to buiild a new garage.Hahaha, I'm in the same boat. :D I got most of the stone fill (sub-foundation) in place, and the rest of the retaining walls nearly got completed this summer. Hopefully the "real" construction part can be started in '08.

On the original topic, I have actually gotten rid of Miata stuff that I suspected I was never going to use. That felt good too.

Oh, and I almost forgot. I got a heavy-duty vintage sewing machine that sews leather and heavy upholstery vinyl. I got tired of poor service from upholstery guys who were incompetent and charged a fortune. I have a number of upholstery, HT boot, and carpeting projects lined up for my Miata, and can't hardly wait to get started.

I should probably spend it on therapy :jump:

For Christmas, my youngest son gave me a black on black '03 MX5 in showroom condition to go along side of my showroom condition, '96 black & tan MX5.
When I put them side by side, I can't decide which one I like the best, the '96 was my first but the '03 has some great lines with the exposed headlights.
They'll both look good on top of my computer desk, 1:43 scale!

SerialLink with the USB adapter off the power list for a nice price.

and I washed my car. This was a big gift since I was sicker than a dog. But Sharka deserved to be clean for Christmas, so I put on the big girl panties and hit the quarter-wash for a quickie.

I don't know if it's a late Christmas present or simple rationalization, but I decided to upgrade my wheels. Basically, I noticed my street tires probably won't pass the next inspection and since the selection for 195/55-14s are pretty limited, I could go to a 15" size and have a greater selection to choose from. So I did.

While they don't look as aggressive as the black/silver BBS wheels that I have been running, they do seem to fit the style of the car a bit better. All in all, I'm happy. :) And I'll be using the BBS's as track wheels (first, using the old Dunlops as "I'll chew up these tires" and then go on to R-compounds).

The only real problem is that they make my brakes look really, really small (http://members.rennlist.com/bcbarrows/miatanewwheels2.jpg).
