Destiny Drive Redux, Anything Goes Mecha (2024)

I would assume you would all be there already, and there's multiple different ways to get there. UN employees obviously get better modes of transport than the publicly available means. Now then, information about this world.

Empress: The original True AGIs, the first of the seven was created in 1960 mainly as proof they could be made. Following "her" creation, six more were made to help the proto-CACHE from simple public relations to checking ideas and even overseeing the creation of new AGIs. While their names aren't static concepts, each of the seven AGIs behave a certain way. The first, referred to as Emily, is free-roaming and performs as a CACHE agent when not aiding other A.I.s. The second, titled Madeline, aids with CACHE's finances and is very orderly. The third, Priscilla, approves experiments and projects while constantly coming up with her things. The fourth, Rebecca, overviews general behavior of CACHE employees and loves messing with people. Ed, the fifth, keeps track of CACHE's assets and loves overindulging herself. Overseeing the construction of new CACHE AGIs is the sixth, Samantha. Lastly, providing emotional support and as a therapist to employees is Sandra.

Mass Production Seelies: Made primarily to arm military forces, MP Seelies are mostly the type of Mech CACHE recruits use. Lacking much of the power of the ace customs and prototypes that make up all "proper" Seelies, Mass Production units make up by easily being replaceable, being easier to familiarize, and having great versatility. Though, even as mass production units they're still more powerful than Mundane Units.

Sweepers: Individuals that, one way or another, work for the UN with the express purpose of cleaning up when Eldritchians are slain. Outfitted with full body protection to prevent mutation or harmful contact, smaller pieces of Eldritchians are sucked into a back-mounted storage system while bigger Eldritchian chucks are either cut apart or removed intact depending on how populated an area is. Since Eldritchian biology is so valuable and dangerous, Sweepers themselves have to be trained & equipped for combat. Thus, should they encounter hostile Mutants they are to subdue the target and bring it back if possible.

CACHE Council: The leaders of CACHE, their exact locations and identities are unknown. Though, as a result, they frequently have fun when they call a meeting with one of their lessers and rarely go the "concealed faces in a dark room" route. Still, having got there by skill, dismissing them as incompetent is a poor mistake to make. Some past decisions however have made them less than liked, though some (such as barring Tobias Nolan from mecha, you just don't mix booze with piloting) are understandable.

Unseelie: When an Artificial Fae bonds too much with their Seelie or experience extreme emotions, the unit's Eldritch power will increase... and the pilot ends up tapping into their Eldritchian memories and personality. The result is a feral beast that will rely solely on their powers to savagely kill their enemies. While the pilot will at times retain enough self to stop themselves from attacking non-Eldritchian targets, they'll go completely berserk in the worst case scenario. Once an unit has gone Unseelie, it'll be scrapped for study if there are other functional units at or near the base it originates from. Though, while more common with Seelies following the Gigan route, it can still happen to any Seelie piloted by a Fae. Thus, it acknowledged the Unseelie phenomenon comes from the Artificial Fae instead of the Seelie. However, publicly, Unseelie is stated to be the result when an Eldritchian possessed the unit.

CACHE Underground: Beneath the surface of Avalon is extremely complex machinery that ends up producing a labyrinthine mess to try navigating. Proto-CACHE having known they would need someplace to hide the projects too dangerous or public-unfriendly, the CACHE Underground was made within Avalon itself. Though there are special entrances all around Avalon, only classified employees know how to get in since only completely trustworthy individuals are allowed into the Underground. Here is where everything too important to let society know is kept, including such things as captured Eldritchians among others. Should anything from the Underground get loose, CACHE and the UN would end up turned on by the world. More mundanely, the Underground is used to quickly get anywhere on Avalon without being seen.

Generation Zero: Having found some mysterious preserved flesh and a brief holographic video implying what it does inside Meteorite One, the scientists of 1980 tried hybridizing a clone with human biology. Having no idea what they were dealing with, they quickly destroyed the screeching deformed abomination. Going back over the video and digging around the area they found it to get more information, they tried a couple more times over the next fifteen years. Having destroyed all but the last one, it turned out to be psychologically stable enough to let live. Studying its biology to improve the process, the knowledge they obtained was soon applied to the Artificial Fae program. Though, it would frequently try to break free from containment whenever it became curious about something and when it was approached by the original head of the Artificial Fae program it became obsessed with them.

Realization of Soul: Experimental Eldritchian bio-technology, it is basically programming blank Eldritchian tissue to generate abilities. Since it is still experimental, the samples read one's mind and generates a single ability reflecting some random facet. While currently only the CACHE Council and a few select individuals possess one to use, both CACHE & the UN are impressed with the project's potential. Thus, a new "MP" Unit is being built with some of this bio-technology to see how it'll affect the Mech.

G.E.N: Short for Geocentric Entry Network, Hochste Einmal developed them across the world to pull in extra-planetary objects at various speeds. While easily functional as a weapon, the real purpose of the G.E.N is to pull down anything from space-borne creations, meteors, or even Eldritchian pods at safe speeds. Thus allowing spaceships to be reused, meteors to be harvested in full, and Eldritchians left dangling from above among numerous uses. Though not specifically meant to send things into space, it can also serve that function should no human-made station be working.

Zero Lament: Having been built since 1995 and making its first combat appearance in 2000, it is widely regarded as one of the most powerful Mecha. Known for its ability to produce false black holes, the Zero Lament was able to completely eliminate the Eldritchians it fought. Though, while humanity felt safe with the Zero Lament around, it eventually met its match against an Eldritchian dubbed Blackwood. The pilot detonating the Zero Lament to ensure the creature's destruction, fear renewed itself when even the "Ultimate Mecha" was defeated by the Eldritchians. Still, the five years the unit ran inspired others to become protectors too, and mystery continues to run around about who the pilot was.

Mark II: From studying the remains of the experimental unit Zero's Lament, Hochste Einmal has been working on engines that'll provide limitless power for Wonderwaffen mecha. While the humans have been informed it can be used as a last-ditch weapon and have seen the prototypes tested, they don't really know how the engines work. They're attempts at replicating a Drive beyond even the Alten.

Mentalists: The term Seed Esper uses for their in-house AGI, they're so complicated Seed Esper has to create huge machines to house the AGI. Thus they're primarily only installed in Mecha, to which point the AGI will act as a co-pilot or help run the unit's functions. In actually they're all Gen 1 or specially made Espers.

In addition, here are the three already made Artificial Fae types.

  • Derivative from: Inferus Dreamer
  • Abilities: Pyrokinesis (in general able to generate and control said fire, though their emotional state affects it), Lava Blood (though not literally lava, once exposed their blood becomes extremely hot and will melt through what it touches), Extreme Heat Resistance
  • Fae Biology: Their internal body temperature is higher than normal humans, but besides their tendency to have red hair & eyes not much else of note.
  • Unseelie Frequency: Rather low, though Faith Long (transition between Gen 1 & 2) was unusually calm despite still being in the Unseelie state after killing the Eldritchian that provoked her.
  • Eldritchian Influence: Very low, with some Gen 1 like Eric Ventus and Freya Kingston only showing Eldritch behavior when using their flawed powers, though some Gen 2 like Fuji Ventus intrinsically want to make peace with the Eldritchians. Then there's Faith Long, who has been recorded as having "dreams" representing the Eldritchian's memories.
  • Pilot Ratio: Very high, nearly every Inferus Fae being trained as a pilot. The only exceptions are unstable Gen 1 like Freya Kingston and most of Gen 3.
  • Derivative from: Emotional Enigma
  • Abilities: Emotion Feeding/Empowerment (their only ability, nonetheless it allows them to feed on the emotions of others and store it as energy they can use to enhance any physical attribute)
  • Fae Biology: They experience more potent and wild emotions, effectively making any drug that affects emotions to incapacitate them as they're overwhelmed. Though they can survive purely by feeding off the emotions' of others, and can actually smell & taste emotions.
  • Unseelie Frequency: Very high, to the point they're practically guaranteed to go into the Unseelie state when using an Emotional Enigma unit.
  • Eldritchian Influence: Moderate, though this mainly comes down to compelling them to feed off others and trick individuals to drain them emotionally dry. Though, they do have an odd compulsion to read about Magical Girls.
  • Pilot Ratio: Very low, and when they do they're not provided a Seelie derived from the Emotional Enigma.
  • Derivative from: Spatial Render
  • Abilities: Self Molecular Manipulation (they're able to manipulate their bodies' molecular bonds, able to "teleport" dash and move through solid objects, though this is also their biggest weakness as they can't rebond their body after a minute)
  • Fae Biology: Electricity is a major weakness to them, coming in four stages: Supercharge (accelerating the movement of their atoms), Fused (unable to manipulate their bodies' molecular bonds as well, and even if managing the atoms will randomly fuse back), Leaking (electricity starts to seep out from their bodies), and finally Explosion (every single atom making up their body fires off in a different direction, certain to kill them)
  • Unseelie Frequency: Surprisingly low, as they're able to disrupt their connection at will.
  • Eldritchian Influence: Non-existent from what has been studied, though they seem to be instinctively drawn to Enigma Fae and commonly become friends as a well.
  • Pilot Ratio: Moderate, as few were produced until the second half of Gen 2 due to worries about their ability to manipulate their molecular bonds making them dangerous to contain if gone rogue. With the majority part of Gen 3, there's not many Render Fae deemed suitable as a result.

So would anyone be interested in me giving profiles for some of the past Eldritchians? I was also going to mention the Classifications they're divided into, but I think this post is big enough.
